Have you heard of affirmations? Affirmations are positive statements that can help you to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. When you repeat them often, and believe in them, you can start to make positive changes. What does a positive affirmation look like? I love to exercise. Now if you are a person that does not love to exercise when you say that statement to yourself your brain tries to convince you that you indeed love exercise. You continue to tell yourself that you love exercise but you really don’t and nothing changes. You don’t believe in your affirmations you doubt them.
I’ve recently found AFFORMATIONS. In the book The Secret Code of Success by Noah St. John he defines afformations as “empowering questions that immediately change your subconscious thought patterns from negative to positive.” What does an afformation look like? Instead of saying I love to exercise say Why do I love to exercise? When you turn it into a question your brain naturally wants to answer that question. I love to exercise because it will keep my heart healthy, I love to exercise because it makes me feel better, I love to exercise because it helps me to lose weight. Why do I love to eat healthy? I’ll live longer if I eat healthy. It’s better for my overall health.
Do you see the difference between affirmations and afformations? I use afformations in my mindset. I have my afformations hanging on my wall and I ask myself those questions and let my brain figure out the answer. Do you prefer affirmations or afformations? What are some of your favorite questions you ask yourself?
How will you think differently if you incorporate afformations into your life?
